Feb. 10: Chelsea’s 10th annual Chocolate Extravaganza

(Chelsea Update would like to thank Maureen Tobin and Bridget Favre for the information in this story.)

Valentine’s Day is just around the corner, and to help celebrate, Chelsea businesses will showcase a variety of decadent gifts during the 10th Annual Chocolate Extravaganza on Saturday, Feb. 10 from 10 a.m.-5 p.m.

Participating businesses and restaurants will be hosting an indulgent experience offering Valentine’s Day shopping incentives, raffles, and chocolate treats.

“Whether you’re a romantic, or a cynic, or somewhere in the middle, you are likely to embrace the one aspect of the holiday that remains constant year after year: chocolate,” said Garden Mill owner Jennifer Fairfield

More than 30 local businesses will offer a variety of chocolate treats, including free fair trade chocolate samples at Global Marketplace, freshly baked chocolate chip cookies at Maureen’s Designs, and a drawing for free Cherry Republic products at La Maison.

“The fun goes beyond chocolate, and there are also opportunities for our customers to “make and take” free valentine crafts. At the Garden Mill, kids can make a free Valentine bird feeder, and USArtQuest has paper craft projects for all ages and abilities,” said Fairfield.

Many restaurants will offer special chocolate desserts or drinks on their menus during the event. Thompson’s Pizza will feature a Nutella dessert pizza, and Smokehouse 52 BBQ will showcase Chocolate Martinis. For anyone on the go, free hot chocolate will be available at the carryout entrance of the Common Grill.

Also happening on Saturday, there will be an artisan’s market in The Depot, and Chelsea’s first Curling Fest where teams will compete for the inaugural Chelsea Cup in the Chelsea Lanes parking lot on Saturday and Sunday.

In addition to the free parking throughout Chelsea, WAVE has added an additional bus stop by Chelsea Lanes on Saturday, so folks can travel back and forth between the stores located along M-52 (Main Street) to the curling action. Those buses will run from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
