Greystone Creamery workshop planned by Chelsea Community Kitchen on April 20

CCK-logo-smallGreystoneLogo_RGB_copyThe Chelsea Community Chelsea expert series workshops continue with Greystone Creamery workshop/tour on Saturday, April 20 at the farm from 1:30-3:30 p.m.

The creamery is located at 14325 Jerusalem Road.

Greystone Creamery proprietor Sally Hutchinson will lead a tour of her historic Chelsea farm and creamery. Participants will learn about each aspect of the cheese making process and enjoy samples as well.

Greystone Creamery was the first Grade A sheep dairy licensed in Michigan by the Michigan Department of Agriculture, and Hutchinson has completed both the basic and advanced cheese-making courses at the Vermont Institute for Artisan Cheese (University of Vermont).

In 2009, Greystone Creamery, LLC began producing artisan cow and ewe’s milk cheeses. They buy their sheep’s and cow’s milk from two local dairy farms, which both use sustainable farming practices, manage their animals humanely, permit the animals to pasture as much as possible and use no hormones or antibiotics to promote milk production.

The cost is $35 per participant and use this contact form to register.
