State Rep. Kathy Schmaltz recently presented Howdy S. Holmes with a state tribute recognizing his contributions to the St. Louis Center, a nonprofit residential community for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities, in Sylvan Township.

Holmes, the CEO and chairman of Chelsea Milling Company, known for producing Jiffy Mix, has been a tremendous supporter of the St. Louis Center since it opened in 1960.

“Howdy always makes a point to help those who can’t help themselves,” Schmaltz said. “It was an honor to present him with a state tribute recognizing his dedication to others, his support of the St. Louis Center, and his devotion to the entire Chelsea community.”
