Human Rights Commission works on annual plan

By Lisa Carolin

Coming up with its annual plan is a priority for the Chelsea’s Human Rights Commission.

That was a topic at its Feb. 6 meeting

The annual plan needs to be presented to Chelsea City Council once it is approved by the HRC.

HRC members agreed to try to have a plan ready to present in March. One of the challenges is getting new members and existing members together and in agreement on a plan.

Dan Kaminsky and Susan Morrel-Samuels are the existing members, and they welcomed new member Rod Anderson at the Feb. 6 meeting.

HRC applicant Joanne Ladio, who has not yet been approved by City Council, attended the meeting and spoke to HRC members about why she would like to be a member.

Ladio is the cofounder of One World One Family and said she is strongly in support of the Chelsea Human Rights Commission. She said that she would like to use her background in marketing to promote the HRC.

If approved by the City Council, she would become the fourth member of the HRC, which would still leave a vacancy. Information can be found at http://city-chelsea.org.

The HRC meets the first Wednesday of the month at 6 p.m. in City Council Chambers. The next meeting is March 6.
