Jan. 25: Kiwanis to brainstorm 2016 goals

(Chelsea Update would like to thank Bob Milbrodt for the information in this story.)

Recently, Nancy Paul received a check for $1,700 for Faith in Action during her visit to our club, representing our annual contribution.

Last Monday, Jane Thompson and Natalie Krienke gave a fascinating presentation, a behind the scenes glimpse at the workings of Ballet Chelsea. Natalie brought her costume from the recent production of “The Nutcracker,” where she portrayed the Sugarplum Fairy. She spoke about her years of training and her preparation for a performance.

Thompson showed another dress and explained how her person on staff can create and decorate costumes, using the best quality materials for durability, as they are taken apart and rebuilt and redecorated for other performances. She spoke of the many dance styles taught at their studios and their Adaptive Dance Program at St. Louis Center, designed to get its residents moving and enjoying dance.

This Monday our members will conduct a brainstorming session to formulate our goals for 2016 to increase Kiwanis impact in the community.

The meeting begins each week at 6:15 p.m. in the St. Joseph Mercy-Chelsea Hospital cafeteria, and the speakers begin at about 6:45 p.m.

Everyone is invited to the meetings to learn about Kiwanis and click www.kiwanisclubofchelsea.org for more information.
