Jan 29: SRSLY presents: ‘Marijuana and Teens: what every parent should know’

srslylogo(Chelsea Update would like to thank Reiley Curran for the information in this story.)

SRSLY invites students and parents from Beach Middle School and Chelsea High School to an evening of learning and open discussion about marijuana on Wednesday, Jan. 29 from 6:30-8 p.m. at the Washington Street Education Center board room.

Speaking will be local physicians and school personnel including Randall Forsch, MD, family medicine, Scott Moore, MD, pediatrics, Frank Pavlovcic, DO, psychiatry, and Beth Morris, LMSW, school social worker.

The panel will address the most common and confusing myths about marijuana, answer questions, and discuss what families can do together to prevent drug abuse.

Without the facts, without action, saying “Don’t smoke pot,” could send a clouded message.

From 2010 to 2012, the percentage of Chelsea teens that reported using marijuana doubled. One CHS student said, “Teens believe that marijuana will not harm them because, after all, ‘it’s a prescription made to help.'”

Do parents know how to talk to their kids about this?

How do you respond to the confusing messages they get from the media?

Then plan to attend “Marijuana and Teens: What Every Parent Needs to Know.”
