The Purple Rose Theatre Company will present Jeff Daniels’ Onstage and Unplugged for a limited seven-show engagement from Friday, Dec. 26 through Wednesday, Dec. 31.

Plus, there are two special benefit performances, which include a mid-performance Question and Answer opportunity with Daniels on Saturday, Dec. 27 and a New Year’s-themed buffet dinner at the Chelsea Comfort Inn and Village Conference Center. Festive desserts by Laura O’Brien Sweets and Treats top off the 8 p.m. benefit in the theatre’s lobby.

All performances will be at The Purple Rose Theatre Company, 137 Park St.

A prolific songwriter, actor, as well as playwright, Daniels (PRTC Founder) will perform an arsenal of songs that are alternately humorous and poignant. Daniels has toured nationally with his music; most recently completing a 14-city Midwest tour with his son, Ben, and The Ben Daniels Band.

Daniels’ new album, Days Like These, will be released in the coming weeks as well as the highly anticipated sequel to the 1994 smash hit “Dumb and Dumber,” titled “Dumb and Dumber To,” opening in theaters nationwide on Nov. 14.

He recently finished filming the final (third) season of his two-time Emmy nominated and 2013 Emmy winning lead role on HBO’s acclaimed series The Newsroom. “Jeff Daniels is one of the busiest men in show business. The fact that he chooses to spend his holidays performing Unplugged for the theatre company he founded and continues to nurture speaks volumes of his dedication to not just our company, but to our state. We could not be more excited,” says PRTC Artistic Director Guy Sanville.

This year’s performance line-up will feature old favorites as well as songs from Daniels’ new album, Days Like These.

Tickets for Onstage and Unplugged are on sale beginning Nov. 17 at 10 a.m., by phone at 433-7673 and online here.

    • Information about how to purchase tickets is at the bottom of the story. There’s a phone number and a website.

  1. We have seen Jeff’s show a number of times. We run a bed and breakfast and have strongly encouraged our guests who have not seen him “on stage” to do so. Great Christmas gift to yourself or your someone special. Not one of our guests who have attended have ever been disappointed and felt the price, not cheap, was well worth it. You get to see a side of him in a venue that truly exposes his many talents. You owe it to yourself to experience one of Michigan’s nationally recognized celebrities.
