July 18: Transition Town Chelsea meeting speaker Dave Konkle of Great Lakes Renewable Energy

Transition Town Chelsea logoTransition Town Chelsea will hold its July potluck on Monday, July 18, at 6:30 p.m. in the Chelsea Senior Center and Dave Konkle, vice president of the Great Lakes Renewable Energy Association (GLREA), will be the speaker.

Konkle will talk about the GLREA 2016 goal to spread the word about Microgrids, the fast developing new energy answer to creating more resiliency in the nation’s electric grid and better emergency preparedness for local grids.  Microgrids are a great way to incorporate renewable energy into local planning.  He is also prepared to answer a wider range of questions about state energy issues including: energy bills in the Michigan legislature, the market competitiveness of solar, the spread of Community Solar programs, the coal plants shutting, etc.

The potluck meal begins at 6:30. Konkle plans to join the group at 6:30 p.m. for the meal and then continue talking afterward about 7:15 p.m.

Everyone is invited to this free event and if you plan to go, please bring a dish to pass and your own place settings.
