(Chelsea Update would like to thank Kathy Carter for the information in this story.)
This year’s Chelsea Community Kitchen Kids Cooking Camp from July 20-24 will be a culinary tour around the U.S.A.
Students who are first-time attendees will learn the basics of food preparation, kitchen safety and cooking cleanly, while cooking yummy, healthy foods.
Students who have attended before will be challenged by new cooking techniques and foods.
A new feature this year will be the ability to earn a Junior Chef Award by completing all five days. Attendees can register for all week, or for individual days at $25 per 3 hour session.
Morning sessions are for grades 1-3 and afternoon sessions are for grades 4-6.
Each day will feature a different area of the country.
- Monday, July 20: Midwest
- Tuesday, July 21: Northeast
- Wednesday, July 22: South
- Thursday, July 23: Southwest
- Friday, July 24: Hawaiian Islands
Once again, Judy Radant will be the lead teacher. Former culinary arts teacher at the South and West Washtenaw Consortium School and WCC, she will guide the students through this adventure.
Registration is filling (only 3-5 full-time spots), so visit the Chelsea Community Education website to register.
