Chelsea Area Festivals and Events is proud to announce the 40th annual Sounds and Sights Festival July 28, 29 and 30.

Presented by Golling Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram of Chelsea, the weekend event will feature national and regional live music acts, local food and brew, an open-air art market, classic car show, chalk art contest, and multiple events activities for all ages.

Social Tent and Festival Main Stage:

Located behind The Common Grill restaurant, the festival social tent is open at 6 p.m., with live bands performing from 7 to 11 p.m.  Beer and wine will be for sale to those aged 21 and over. Admission is $5 and all ages are welcome.

In addition to the many local sponsors including The City of Chelsea DDA, Chelsea State Bank, “Jiffy” Mixes and Rick Taylor Real Estate, proceeds from the social tent help fund the summer long “Sounds and Sights on Thursday Nights” free concert series.

Thursday, July 28 is billed as ‘Chelsea Spotlight’ and features three bands with Chelsea connections. Opening at 7 p.m. is Cold Tone Harvest. Veterans to the Sounds and Sights on Thursday Nights concert series, Cold Tone Harvest mixes elements of indie folk and Americana.

At 7:40 pm The Moxie Strings take the stage performing an electrifying combination of feel-good melodies and rock-influenced rhythms.  Ben Daniels Band headlines Thursday night performing Americana, blues, jazz and rock. With five CDs under their belt, Ben Daniels Band has toured notable venues throughout Michigan, New York City, Washington D.C. and Nashville.

Friday, July 29 is ‘Country Night’ and features two of the region’s most popular performers: Kris Hitchcock and Gunnar & The Grizzly Boys.  Kris Hitchcock opens the show at 7 p.m. with ear-grabbing music that mixes elements of traditional country and rock.  At 9 p.m., Gunnar and The Grizzly Boys headline the Sounds & Sights Festival stage for their first time. The country band emerged from the Michigan music scene with a young beat, honest storytelling and wide range of musical influences from classic country to Detroit rock to 90s punk.

Saturday, July 30 is the festival’s traditional ‘Dance Party’ showcasing two cover bands that are guaranteed to stir up the dance floor. The collective talent of 13th Floor kicks off the party at 7 p.m. with a high energy show followed by The Phoenix Theory, recognized as one of Michigan’s premier cover bands. The Phoenix Theory performs renditions of classic rock and dance favorites from the 70’s, 80’s, 90’s and today.
