June 4: rally in support of #Black Lives Matter

(Chelsea Update would like to thank Joann Ladio for the information in this story.)

The Chelsea area community is invited to rally in support of #Black Lives Matter on Thursday at 6 p.m. in Pierce Park.

The gathering will be an opportunity for area citizens to demonstrate their support of equal justice for all and to protest the racism and inequality that ignited the current protests.  This will be a chance to stand together to show the world around us that we are a community that cares.

  • Social distancing and face masks will be requested.
  • Signs of support are welcome.
  • Families are encouraged to attend.
  • Any sign encouraging violence will not be allowed.

Local community leaders will speak to the assembled group. Current confirmed speakers are Rev. Eric Stricklin, Jane Pacheco,  Susan Morrel-Samuels, Rose Sanville and Jeni McFarland.

There will be opportunities to sign up for local actions or organizations. If anyone has handouts or organization information, please bring the material, hand sanitizer and a table to the park by 5 p.m.

Current co-hosts are One World One Family and Chelsea First United Methodist Church and St. Barnabas Episcopal Church.
