Fr. Enzo Addari, SdC., administrator of St. Louis Center, invites the community to an open house on Tuesday, Nov. 19 at 7 p.m. to share the vision of the Servants of Charity’s Fr. Guanella Hall and the future of the center.

“As time goes on, we continue to receive more and more requests to care for older adults with I/DD, and we need to be able to properly accommodate their needs at St. Louis Center,” he says. “While many older adult children with I/DD continue to live at home, many of their parents now need assistance, and we hope to be able to assist them by providing quality residential care for their sons and daughters.”

St. Louis Center, located in Sylvan Township, has been caring for the needs of persons with developmental disabilities for 53 years, and following their 50th Anniversary in 2010 a Legacy Campaign Committee was established to raise funds to improve the infrastructure of the campus facilities.

On Nov. 1, the Servants of Charity broke ground on a $1.9 million renovation project at Fr. Guanella Hall that will create a state of the art assisted living program for older adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD). The project is expected to be completed in June 2014.

Two of the principles involved in the project, Sarah Haselschwardt of Kingscott Architects and Andy Shmina of A.Z. Shmina Construction, will be at the presentation.

Attendees will be shown the vision of the new Fr. Guanella Hall.

St. Louis Center is located at 16195 Old US-12.
