American Legion Post 31 recently held its annual family night and the prestigious Donald “Digger” O’ Dell Award was presented to Delores Fouty for her more than 40 years of service to the American Legion.

Legion members, their families and friends enjoyed dinner with people bringing dishes to pass.

The weather was great and the turnout was huge, said Chuck Reed.

Legion members also held their annual flag retirement ceremony where old American Flags are ceremoniously disposed of by fire.

A prayer for our flags is read by the Legion chaplain and all members salute the flag as the commander lets one gently fall into the flames.

There was also a small bonfire for the kids and they roasted marshmallows and enjoyed S’mores.
