The wedding season at Nordman Lake is on the wane, much to the relief of neighbors.

But, a question about the scheduling of weddings led to concerns about the grading of Steinbach Road near the entrance to Camp Waterbury.

A resident said the road has become a washboard.

According to the special use permit granted by the township, the owners of the camp are to deposit money into an escrow account beginning in the spring to pay for additional materials to be placed in the road from Dexter-Chelsea Road south to the camp’s driveway, Supervisor Craig Maier said.

The agreement calls for the camp owners to have people come in Dexter-Chelsea Road to the facility, but “you can’t tell people where to go,” Maier said.

The road is in distress as traffic to and from the camp has come mainly from south of the drive to the camp.

County road crews will be performing normal maintenance and grading on local roads, Maier said.

In the only action items:

The township board appointed Elizabeth Sensoli to the Planning Commission to fill the remaining term of the vacant seat and Ron Howdyshell as an alternate to the Board of Review.

The board also scheduled the selection of a new township clerk to be made at its November meeting.

In other news and reports:

Some members of the Nazarene Church have approached the Lima Township Planning Commission about turning part of the church land into a dog park.

The Planning Commission will have a work session on Dec. 8 at 6 p.m. to discuss revisions to the Master Plan.

Township residents are being urged not to place glass bottles in with their regular recycling. Currently, the Western Washtenaw Recycling Authority (WWRA) isn’t accepting glass containers because it cannot sell them, and the authority has to pay people to retrieve them.

The Chelsea District Library will soon be loaning out Internet hot spots to patrons and could add devices to measure electricity usage from appliances and devices, Board President Sensoli said.
