On Friday, June 1, two days before their graduation ceremony, seniors at Chelsea High School, who are part of the Class of 2018, gathered in the school’s auditorium to receive scholarships and a variety of honors and awards as part of Class Night.

The evening began similarly to the graduation ceremony with students in caps and gowns taking their seats while “Pomp and Circumstance” played.

CHS Principal Mike Kapolka greeted the students as well as the auditorium full of their families. He introduced some 40 presenters who were there to give scholarships and awards to 111 students.

First a student’s name was announced, followed by a little bit about the student’s activities and accomplishments, and then the award(s) was announced and presented, all to vigorous applause and often standing ovations.

This is a list of those students, who were recognized with a total of 317 scholarships and awards, as compiled by Shelley Weber from the Chelsea High School Guidance Department.
