Oct. 4: Crop Hunger Walk to take place in Dexter

Crop-walk-jpeg

(Chelsea Update would like to thank Kathie Gourlay for the information in this story. Please note that the first Sunday in October is Oct. 4. This information has been corrected in the story.)

For the first time, the Chelsea/Dexter CROP Hunger Walk will take place in Dexter on Oct. 4, beginning at 1:30 p.m. at St. Andrew UCC Church.

For more than 20 years, the walk was held in Chelsea, and the current plan is for the walk to alternate each year between the two cities.

The purpose of Crop Hunger Walks is to raise money for poor and hungry people around the world. Twenty-five percent of the money raised from this walk will remain local and be given to Faith in Action, which helps people in need in both Chelsea and Dexter.

The walk will continue to take place on the first Sunday in October, and there will be 1- mile and 5-mile routes starting from St. Andrew UCC Church on Ann Arbor Road.

If you are interested in donating, you may do so online by clicking here, clicking on “Find a Walk” and then entering “Dexter.”

If you would like to participate by walking to raise money, please contact Faith in Action, at 475-3305, for an envelope in which to collect donations.
