Oct. 3: new officers to be installed at Chelsea Kiwanis

kiwanis(Chelsea Update would like to thank Bob Milbrodt for the information in this story.)

At the Chelsea Kiwanis Club’s last meeting, Chelsea Athletic Booster President Gretchen Steele described the purpose of the boosters was to support the sports teams to encourage spirit and pride in Chelsea and get as many children as possible involved in athletics.

She reported that Chelsea is very fortunate to receive so much support from community members compared to other communities. This is apparent with the number of volunteers in the boosters, the number of kids participating in sports, and the quality of the sports facilities and equipment.

On Friday, Sept. 23, Kiwanis had a successful Punt, Pass and Kick competition. The winners can progress to the regional in Saline on Oct. 8. Continued success will end in a competition at Ford Field during the Lions game on Thanksgiving Day. Much thanks to our co-sponsors the Chelsea Parent Teacher Organization.

This Monday, we will be installing officers and directors for the 2016-17 fiscal year.  Performing the installation will be the current Governor of the Michigan District of Kiwanis Linda Lawther. She is completing her year leading the 160 Kiwanis Clubs in our district, which includes Michigan’s lower peninsula and the eastern half of the upper peninsula.

The club meeting begins each Monday at 6:15 p.m. in the St. Joseph Mercy Chelsea Hospital cafeteria, and the speakers begin at about 6:45 p.m.

Everyone is invited to the club’s meetings to learn about Kiwanis.
