The Washtenaw County Sheriff’s Office is advising folks to beware of a Publishers Clearing House phone scam.
Recently a Superior Township resident received a call from someone claiming to be from Publishers Clearing House. The caller said the resident they had won a million dollars and for the resident to go to a specific website to verify the winnings.
Once that was done, the caller began to ask numerous questions and asked the resident for account information so they could wire them the winnings.
This was not a legitimate offer.
Please be cautious when dealing with anything like this and never give out personal information over the phone.
