Publisher’s message: New look, new stuff added to the site this week

This week readers may have noticed several new things on Chelsea Update.

Alan Scafuri, the site’s IT guru, added a fun puzzle game for readers. It’s on the right hand side of the page under local links. Although I rarely play games on the laptop — I couldn’t resist the sheep game puzzle.  And thought it was a fun idea to have something different to do while perusing Chelsea Update.

In addition, at the bottom of every story, Alan’s made it easier for you to share the ones you like with your friends via email, Facebook, Twitter or other social media tools, which I’ll be the first to admit, I don’t know much about.

And, I hope you have noticed the new ad spot has been added in the center of the page, which will change each week. I’d like to give a shout out to GiGi’s Flowers and Gifts, which was the first small business to reserve this new ad spot. Because I want this spot to be available for groups or businesses that have a special event or sale upcoming, it can only be reserved for one week at a time. I hope readers have seen all the new local businesses that are supporting Chelsea Update and my efforts. Please shop locally and tell them you saw their ad on this site.

I had a record number of events to cover on Saturday Feb. 9, which took me from one end of town to the other. And, I’ve included a few photos with this message. Those stories will follow this week. I was just too tired after an all-day marathon covering everything to do them justice Saturday night.

It all started with the free (yummy) breakfast the second Saturday of the month at the United

Methodist Church, which I highly recommend, and was following by the scout food drive for Faith in Action at Polly’s, and I hope you helped out the families in the Chelsea area who need our assistance.

Then there was the annual Chocolate Extravaganza, and almost 40 businesses participated. From there, it was off to the Lions’ Club Family Bowling Day at Chelsea Lanes and the amazing Daddy Daughter Dance at the Washington Street Education Center. I’d hoped to make it to the Chelsea Education Foundation gala at The Village Conference Center at the Comfort Inn but ran out of time. I’m so sorry.

I try to get to as many events as I possibly can – even if you can’t. So, I hope you continue to enjoy all the news and photos I provide and please think about making a contribution of any amount to Chelsea Update, so I can continue to bring you All the News that’s Fit to Post about Chelsea.
