Recent Obituary: Elsie M. Satterthwaite Hochrein

Elsie M. Satterthwaite Hochrein of Gregory, age 107, died peacefully Friday, Aug. 4, 2017 at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital Chelsea.

She was born March 12, 1910 in Chelsea, Michigan, the daughter of Ernest John and Addie (Ortbring) Pfitzenmaier.

Mrs. Hochrein lived in the Chelsea area all of her life. She was a member of the Covenant Church and the Chelsea High School Class of 1929. Elsie loved animals, especially her dog Shady. She traveled extensively, in the U.S. and abroad. Elsie enjoyed doing needlework, which she called her “fancywork.” She loved to play card games, especially euchre.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Aug. 9, 11 a.m. at Cole Funeral Chapel, Chelsea, with Pastor Anthony Dickerson officiating. Burial will follow at Vermont Cemetery, Chelsea. The family will receive friends before the funeral from 10-11 a.m. Memorial contributions may be made to Covenant Church, 50 N Freer Road, Chelsea, MI 48118.
