Recent obituaries: Florence Sophie Koengeter, Grace Elberta (Hinchey) Nickel

Koengeter_FlorenceFlorence Sophie Koengeter of Chelsea, age 97, died Monday, June 8, 2015 at the Chelsea Retirement Community.

She was born June 16, 1917 in Ft. Madison, Iowa, the daughter of Ralph and Bertha (Bragonier) Voigt.

Florence attended Christian College in Columbia, MO and Eden Seminary in Webster Groves, MO, and was commissioned in the Evangelical and Reformed Church.  She served as an organist and Christian Educator at churches in Monroe, WI and Ann Arbor, MI (Bethlehem Church).  She served with her husband, Alton, in Prescott, AZ, Andover, IA, Tripoli, IA, and Burlington IA, before retiring in Chelsea.

Nickel,-Grace-web2Grace Elberta (Hinchey) Nickel of Dexter, age 97, passed away Saturday, June 6, 2015 at the Legacy Assisted Living Center in Jackson.

Born in 1917, Grace was a lifelong and the oldest living resident of Dexter Township. She attended the country school at the corner of Dexter Townhall Road and North Territorial Road through the 8th grade and graduated from Pinckney High School in 1935.

She married Ernest N. Nickel in June of 1945 in Pinckney, MI. She loved nature, flowers, roses, and all kinds of animals. She also loved her second home in Lake St. Helen, MI.
