The Chelsea Community Kitchen Kids Cooking series returns this summer with three sessions for kids to learn about healthy cooking and have fun doing it.

All classes are taught by Judy Radant and are held at the Chelsea First United Methodist Church. Adult and teen volunteers can get involved as teacher aides.

Kids Cooking Camp, with a focus on baking: Monday July 31-Friday Aug. 4

Grades 1-3 – 9 a.m. to noon; grades 4-6- 1 to 4 p.m.

Kids in grades 1-3 and grades 4-6 are invited to enroll in a single session or take all five classes and earn a Junior Chef Award. This summer’s classes focus on baking.  Students will learn various baking techniques and sample the dishes they have created at the end of each class.

The class fee is $25 per day and includes all material and food.

Summer Chef’s Club: Monday, Aug. 7-Wednesday, Aug. 9

Grades 7-9: 9 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.

This class offers more advanced skills for older kids. In this three-day series, students learn both the art and science of cooking. The class will also tour a working farm and show off their new cooking skills by preparing a meal on the final day for their invited guests.

The class fee is $150 and includes all materials and food costs.

Teacher Aid volunteers for all dates are also needed.  Do you like working with younger children?  Enjoy cooking and have basic kitchen knowledge? Join Chelsea Community Kitchen this summer during our kids cooking programs as a volunteer camp teacher aid. You can work half-days (8-12:30 or 12:30-4:30) or the full day; one day or all.

Anyone entering 9th grade and up is eligible to participate.

Send us an email ([email protected]) giving your name, contact info, grade in school (if applicable),  a brief description of any experience you’ve had working with kids or cooking.

Enroll in classes online at www.chelseacommunitykitchen.org/events/cck-kids. Scholarships are also available; please email [email protected] for more information.
