St. Joseph Mercy Chelsea to award $5,000 in scholarships to local students

(Chelsea Update would like to thank Bobby Maldonado for the information in this story.)

St. Joseph Mercy Chelsea is again providing scholarships for students interested in pursuing a career in health care.

In 2016, the hospital will award five merit-based scholarships to local students in the amount of $1,000 each.

To quality, this year’s applicants must be enrolled fulltime in a health care program for which certification is given or a degree is granted. Applicants must live in Chelsea, Manchester, Dexter, Pinckney, Grass Lake, Stockbridge or Gregory.  Scholarship awards are based on academic achievement, community involvement and a sincere interest in health care.

Applications may be picked up at the information desk inside St. Joseph Mercy Chelsea from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday, or can be mailed upon request.

Applications will be accepted until May 6.

The scholarships being awarded are funded by the St. Joe’s Auxiliary, a volunteer department within the hospital.

For more information or to request a scholarship application, please call 734-593-5793.

All applications should be sent to the attention of Lois Gibson, Auxiliary counselor, 775 S. Main St., Chelsea, Mich. 48118.
