Sylvan Township Planning Commission Postpones Decision on Chelsea Square Apartments

By Lisa Carolin

The Sylvan Township Planning Commission had their questions answered by township attorney Robert Thall about the best way to proceed with the proposed Chelsea Square 81-unit apartment complex, which would be located near Pielemeier Drive and Coliseum Drive.

The planners asked a number of questions including whether the township has enough water and sewer capacity during its meeting held via Zoom on April 22.

There is currently an engineering study underway to see if the township has the water and sewer capacity to handle the demand that 81 units would require.

The planning commission held a public hearing for Chelsea Square in January, and has postponed taking any action on approving the development pending further information on water and sewer capacity and wetland delineation.

Results of the engineering study are due back this week, and the Planning Commission meets next on May 27 at 7 p.m.
