Take the Washtenaw County Community Health Survey

(Chelsea Update would like to thank Susan Ringler-Cerniglia for the information in this story.)

The Washtenaw County Health Department is inviting residents to share what they think about health in our county by taking the Washtenaw County Community Health Survey.

The survey will help the Health Department, community partners, and local health care providers better understand the needs of our community, establish health priorities, and improve programs and services. “We want to hear what matters to you when it comes to health,” says Jimena Loveluck, MSW, health officer for the Washtenaw County Health Department, in a press release.

“This survey gives our community members the opportunity to help shape how we develop strategies to improve health for their families, neighbors, and the entire community. We need your input to help us improve heath and promote health equity in Washtenaw County.”

Adults who live in Washtenaw County are encouraged to complete the online survey at https://bit.ly/chswash23

The survey is available in English and Spanish. It will be open until April 14.

The survey focuses on issues such as access to health care and social services, chronic disease, the impact of COVID-19, and more. It also includes questions about factors that affect health, including the environment, education, housing, poverty, and racism.

Results will help the Health Department and community partners understand how people in Washtenaw County view health collectively, including where there are strengths to build upon and where improvements are needed.

Participation in this survey is completely voluntary. The survey has twenty questions and will take about 10 minutes to complete. The survey is completely anonymous: respondents do not need to submit their names or identifying health information.

Survey results will be available within the next year.

The Health Department is working with community partners to promote the survey. Limited paper copies of the survey are available, please email [email protected] for more information.

The Community Health Survey is one part of the Health Department’s 2023 Community Health Assessment (CHA). Additional data analysis, community partner surveys, focus groups, key informant interviews, and windshield tours are also ongoing as a part of the CHA.
