Lots of tournament action upcoming at Chelsea District Schools’ venues

The Chelsea School District will host a number of different athletic tournaments in the coming weeks including track, tennis, softball and baseball events.

Pole vault fans can enjoy the MHSAA pole vault regional tournament that will take place on Friday, May 17 beginning at 3 p.m. on the far side of the Chelsea High School football field. (The reminder of this year’s regional track and field competition will take place at Milan High School on Saturday, May 18.)

Tennis fans can enjoy watching the SEC tennis tournament on May 22 at both the Chelsea High School and Beach Middle School tennis courts.

On June 8, Chelsea will host the MHSAA baseball and softball regional tournaments as well as the Division 1 and Division 2 softball quarterfinals on Tuesday, June 11 at 2 p.m. and at 5 p.m. 

As an aside, on May 18, the Chelsea Athletic Boosters will host the annual scrap metal drive in conjunction with the County Clean-Up Day at Chelsea High School.

In addition to the scrap metal fundraiser, the 28th annual Bo Skelton Scramble golf outing will take place on Friday, June 14 at Pierce Lake Golf Course with check-in beginning at 8 a.m. with a 9 a.m. tee off.

And did you know that five Chelsea High School students athletes — Drew Vanderspoon, Madilynn O’Hara, Clara Dobos, Erin McDonnell and Emmett Henry were recently recognized as SEC All-Academic scholars based on their SAT and grade point average in core classes?
