Chelsea girls track and field team 4-1 on season

The Chelsea girls track and field team came away with two wins at the double dual meet on Tuesday night against Dexter and Lincoln.

It came down to the last two events of the evening, 3200m run and 4x400m relay, to secure the victory over Dexter. Many individuals stepped and contributed to the win both against Dexter and Lincoln.

Chelsea girls are now 4-1 on the dual meet season.

Highlights:

* In the disc, Rachel Valek and Lily Franscisco threw their best season throws to take 1st and 2nd against Dexter.

* Emily Morales scored 2nd in the long jump with a jump 14′ 0.0″, which was better than her seed.

* Our 4x200m relay (Sydney Matusik, Hannah Almhiemid, Emily Morales, Kaehla Manly) took 1st against Dexter and Lincoln with a season best time of 1:51.19.

* Chelsea swept the 400m dash. Sydney Matusik, Ailish Joyce, and Laney Miller all ran great times (61.49, 64.9, and 65.29, respectively).

* Kaehla Manly ran her best 300m hurdles race (49.76) of the season to take 1st against Dexter and 2nd against Lincoln.

* Jesse Jacobusse ran two spirited races by out kicking Dexter runners in the 1600m race (5:29.41) and 800m race (2:30.13) to gain two 1st place finishes in those two events.

* Karana Wickens and Allison Hughes helped seal the meet win by finishing 2nd (12:08.58) and 3rd (12:12.68) respectively, against Dexter in 3200m run after running multiple events.

The team heads to the Stockbridge Invitational Meet on Friday.
