Chelsea Underground Gallery teams up with Chelsea Adult Learners Institute for special class

Last week, the Chelsea Underground Art Gallery partnered with the Chelsea Adult Learners Institute to bring students with varying degrees of disability to explore oil painting in the new gallery space on Main Street.

Gallery Owner Alison Mackie worked with Tom Osbeck to put together the experience.

Chelsea Underground represents New York City artist Richard Meyer who is a retired professional in the field of Cognitive Disability and Special Needs. The gallery has a social mission overall and looks forward to many more collaborations.

worked in oil paints before. They explored color, brushes and how to create different effects using different brushes.”

She said, “Everyone left feeling upbeat and excited about what it feels like to be an artist, what it feels like to create.”
