Chelsea varsity girls golf recap

On Monday, Sept. 8, the Chelsea girls golf team hosted the Adrian Maples at Reddeman Farms and came up just short in a close match that had a final score of 226 to 218.

Our score wasn’t good enough to win the match, but it was our best score of the season, and a big step for us, as it was our first match with all 4 scores in the 50s.

Leading the way for the bulldogs was Rose Sanville with a 55, Josie Ewald and Katelyn McKinley both shot 56, and Mackenzie Benning had a 59.

On Monday, Sept. 15, the team traveled to Ann Arbor CC for a quad match with Dexter, Monroe and Bedford.  Dexter was the low score of the day with a 198, both Monroe and Bedford had 206, and the Bulldogs shot 259.

“It was a little disappointing,” Ewald said, “Since the team had improved in 5 straight matches, and this felt like a big step back.”

It was a tougher course with a lot of trouble, and it seems we found most of it.  The bright spot for the day was Benning, posting a fine round of 53.

On Tuesday, Sept. 16, the Chelsea Golf Team had a dual match with Lincoln at Pineview Golf Course.
“We didn’t shoot the best score of the season,” Ewald said, “But we did come away with the win, which was exciting for the girls.”

The final score was Chelsea 234 and Lincoln 242.

The best scores for Chelsea were Benning with a 53, and Ewald with a 55.
