Feb. 7: Annual Chelsea City Council visioning session at the Village Conference Center

The Chelsea City Council unanimously set the date for its annual visioning session at its meeting on Jan. 8.

The City Council and department heads will convene to discuss a year in review and a year ahead on Wednesday, Feb. 7 at 5:30 p.m. at the Village Conference Center at the Chelsea Comfort Inn.

Each year, the city moves this special session to a different location, which has included the Chelsea District Library, The Depot and the City Council chambers in past years.

Included in the meeting is a recap of the previous year’s goals and objectives, said City Manager John Hanifan, who added that the discussion moves forward to setting goals for the upcoming year.

The session also serves as the beginning of the budget process for the year as new projects are discussed.

Although city staff has already begun its internal budget process, typically, there is at least one budget work session in April, and the budget is officially adopted by the City Council prior June 30. July 1 marks the beginning of the city’s fiscal year.

The meeting is open to everyone.
