(Chelsea Update would like to thank Sue Whitmarsh for the information in this story.)

Last week, book lovers were given a little special community surprise.

The Friends of Chelsea District Library, with support from the Rotary Club of Chelsea, installed two Little Free Libraries — one by The Rock at Pierce Park and the second in Timbertown.

These libraries are there for you and your families to use: take a book, leave a book, or simply borrow one to pass the time as you spend time in these locations.

On behalf of everyone involved in this project, we hope you enjoy our Little Free Libraries, and would love to see pictures and comments on our Facebook page of them in use.

A big thank you to Gary Munce and Sam Beale for the installations.

  1. Great job! As a member of the Friends of the Library, I’ve been really excited to see this wonderful project reach Chelsea. Many thanks to Gary and Sam for their efforts, plus all those who supported the effort!

  2. I have seen these in other communities and was hoping for one in Chelsea. Great idea and thanks to Gary and Sam and the library for doing this for the Chelsea community.
