March 29: St. Barnabas Episcopal Church invites community on a Palm Sunday procession

(Chelsea Update would like to thank Jan Varady for the information in this story.)

On Palm Sunday, March 29, the congregation of St. Barnabas Episcopal Church will have a 10 a.m. Holy Eucharist service and the group invites you to walk in procession with them to honor and pray for the Chelsea community.

They will gather at Faith In Action, 603 S. Main St. at noon and begin with prayer there for not only their work, but also for all the community agencies that assist others in need as well as the Chelsea Senior Center.

The group plans to continue with prayer stops at Chelsea Community Hospital, the Chelsea Police Station, Chelsea City Offices, the Chelsea District Library, First Congregational Church of Chelsea, the Chelsea Fire Department, the court house, and the Chamber of Commerce.

At each of these stops, the group will pray for the people and the services they provide to the Chelsea community.

Please join in at any time along the way or at the final stop to pray for all who live, work and worship in community. After the walk, everyone is invited back to St. Barnabas for light refreshment and fellowship.

People of many faiths have walked in processions to honor and pray for others for centuries and the members of St. Barnabas have been focusing on questions such as these during the Lenten season.

What does it mean to walk with the Lord?

Do we take the time to look into the faces of those we see during our daily lives? Do we take the people and services of our community for granted?
