There will be two events to honor veterans on Nov. 11, Veterans Day.

A Tribute to the Fallen will take place in Veterans Park beginning at 1 p.m., which will include a tribute to all who have served and sacrificed for our county. The ceremony will begin with the Posting of Colors and She’s a Grand Old Flag performed by Mrs. McGuire’s and Mrs. Radomski’s students.

Lt. Col. Deron Reynolds will deliver the opening remarks followed by the Retiring of Colors.

Veterans are encouraged to wear uniforms.

From there, everyone is invited to head to the Chelsea Comfort Inn and Village Conference Center from 2-3:30 p.m. to hear author Teresa K. Irish speak.

The author of “A Thousand Letters Home: A WWII Journey Through Letters” will take people back in time through the almost 1,000 letters sent home during her father’s WWII service, during which he was awarded a Silver Star, Purple Heart, and two Bronze Battle Stars.

“A moving and historic story of life and loss, hope and perseverance, unwavering faith and true love, his experience, documented through letters and photographs, will resonate with all,” according to information from the Chelsea District Library.

The day’s events are a partnership between the Chelsea American Legion Post 31, Friends of the Chelsea District Library and the City of Chelsea.
