If you enjoy shopping at Dayspring Gifts, better hurry and load up because the store will be closing in August.

Dayspring Gifts, which is Chelsea’s Hallmark Gold Crown store, is located at 1170 S. Main St. and owner Tom Ungrodt is retiring from the business. This is his last store.

“I’m retiring from the retail business after 39 years,” said Ungrodt. “I decided to do other things and will be entering the consulting world in the gift industry.”

Ungrodt has been leasing space in the building and only expects to be there another three to four weeks.

“We officially started our sale on July 12,” said Ungrodt. “Everything in the store is 25-percent off, and there will be additional discounts over the next several weeks.”

In addition to selling cards, candles, jewelry, clothing and chocolates, all the store’s glass fixtures as well as its counters and tables are also for sale.

Ungrodt expects to be out of the space by the middle of August and says no one has looked at the space yet to replace his business.
