On Friday April 20, the Chelsea softball team swept both games of a double header against Manchester at the Chelsea Softball Complex.
In game 1, Chelsea was led offensively by juniors Maddie Vasquez and Sydnee Leidel who both went 3 for 3 at the plate. Liedel contributed 3 RBI’s while Vasquez had 4 RBI’s and 2 home runs in the contest.
Maddie Kemp recorded her third win of the season, pitching 5 innings where she gave up 5 hits and 1 earned run, while striking out 10 Manchester hitters to preserve the win. Chelsea won the contest 14-2.
In game 2, which Chelsea won 15-1, the Bulldogs were led by junior Peighton Root and senior Phoebe Kahler, who both had 3 hits in their 4 plate appearances. Senior Hannah Kahler was also a big contributor going 2-for-3 at plate and driving in 2 RBI’s, while junior Stephanie Dark also contributed 2 RBI’s in the contest.
Junior Hayley Townsend recorded the win in the circle, giving up just 1 hit and 1 earned run while striking out 4. The win was the third of the season for Townsend.
