Chelsea Police logo 2An observant resident is credited with assisting the Chelsea Police Department and the Washtenaw County Sheriff’s Office apprehend a Jackson teen who left a treatment center and apparently stole a car in Blackman Township before ending up in Chelsea.

According to the police report, on Jan. 2 at about 9:30 a.m., police received a call about a suspicious male seen loitering in a wooded area near the 400 block of Elm Street.

The man was described as a thin, white, teen male, 6-feet tall, wearing baggy pants and a hooded flannel jacket and a black knit hat.

While conducting a search of the area, police found an unoccupied black sedan parked at a nearby
intersection blocking traffic. A license plate check revealed that the vehicle had been reported stolen from Blackman Township earlier in the morning, according to the police report.
