River Gallery is seeking an experienced sculptor to complete a private commission to be permanently installed outdoors in the heart of Chelsea as a memorial to a local resident.

This work will compliment SculptureWalk Chelsea, an annual outdoor rotating sculpture exhibition.

“Our family would like to honor our mother, wife and grandmother with a memorial that personifies her life; and to share this with the community which she, her husband and their children were raised,” according to a family member in the press release.

The theme should be nature inspired; potentially relating to flowers and hummingbirds.

The dimensions should be 4′-5′ in height and there’s a budget of $4,000 – $5,000, which includes delivery and installation.

Submissions are due by Sunday, Oct. 18 and the artist will be notified by Friday, Oct. 30.

The installation will take place in spring 2016.

Submission guidelines include submissions that will represent a body of work that will fit the theme for the commission.

To be included in the selection process, each application (whether emailed or mailed) must contain the following information:

  1. Resume
  2. Artist statement
  3. CD with sample images of existing work.
  4. 3-5 images and a detailed description with medium, dimensions, title and pricing of each piece, or email images of each submitted piece at 72 dpi with a detailed description of each piece to: [email protected].
