Western Washtenaw Recycling Authority elects officers

The Western Washtenaw Recycling Authority board re-elected Frank Hammer of Chelsea as the chairman of the board on Wednesday, Jan. 8, while Jason Maciejewski of Dexter Township was elected as the vice chairman.

Nanette Havens of Lima Township was re-elected as treasurer and Mary Jane Maze of Lyndon Township was elected secretary for the board.

Phil Bolyard, manager of the recycling authority, told the board that about 540 tons of material was recycled in December, which resulted in about $53,000 in revenue. In November, about 481 tons was taken in for about $44,800 in revenue. In October, about 572 tons of recycling was gathered for about $61,880 in revenue.

With the new single-stream recycling, there was a 1,700-ton increase in the amount of material collected by WWRA.
