Chelsea boys Track and Field traveled to Ypsilanti Lincoln this week and lost the meet, 101-36, marking the Bulldog’s first dual meet defeat in about five years.

“We were soundly beaten by a superior Lincoln squad,” said Coach Eric Swager, who added, “Coach Gonzales has done a great job with some very talented athletes, and his senior-led team took it to us in dominating fashion.”

The home team won every single event. “They really have no weak spots, and it is the best Lincoln team I can ever recall facing,” Swager said.

Some key injuries to some of our top guys certainly didn’t help matters, and we did have some preparation and mental issues with the guys that were there, he said.

“I tell the team that after every event, we need to learn something and improve,” Swager said. “There are a bunch of lessons here that I hope we can build on as we move forward in the season.”

We hope to be more competitive for our next two dual meets – both at home on the next two Tuesdays – Tecumseh next week and Dexter the week after, he said, inviting everyone to attend the meets and support the team as they head toward regionals.
