2014 Chelsea Community Fair schedule

Readers have been asking about prices and the Chelsea Community Fair schedule, so here you go.

General admission prices for people over 10 years old is $7 a day; children under 7 years old are admitted free.

A season pass is $25; student and senior citizen season passes are $15.

Please remember, rides provided by North American Midway Entertainment, are additional.

All parking is free.

This year’s fair takes place from Aug. 19-23, but, on Sunday, Aug. 17 and on Monday, Aug. 18, there are free tractor pulls and the Kiwanis food trailer will be open as well.

So, on Sunday, Aug. 17, after you enter your green barn entries between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m., be sure to head down to the Main Arena for free dead weight tractor pull, which begins at 9 a.m.

On Monday, Aug. 18, the antique tractors take the stage in the Main Arena beginning at 10 a.m. This event is also free.

On Tuesday, Aug. 19, rabbit judging begins at 9 a.m. and poultry judging starts at 11 a.m.

Rides open at 5 p.m. and the evening activities start at 5:30 p.m. with the Children’s Parade, which begins downtown in the Common Grill parking lot and winds its way to the fairgrounds. Kids can go to the Main Arena for more fun and games. Bingo begins at 5:30 p.m.

The swine kids take to the dirt in the Multi Purpose Arena beginning at 6 p.m., and the demolition derby takes place in the Main Arena beginning at 7:30 p.m.

On Wednesday, Aug. 20, rides open at 1 p.m. but both the goat judging and the youth horse show judging begins at 9 a.m.

Dairy Feeder Calf judging begins at noon and the Beef judging begins at 2 p.m. Bingo starts at 5 p.m.

The sheep kids take to the Multi Purpose Arena beginning at 6 p.m. and the figure-8 derby takes place at 7:30 p.m. in the Main Arena.

On Thursday, Aug. 21, it’s seniors 65 years and older day and they enter the fair for free. Rides open at 1 p.m. and bingo starts at 5 p.m.

There’s a youth horse show beginning at 9 a.m., the dairy cattle are judged at 10 a.m. and draft horses pull at 11 a.m.

At 1 p.m. is a kiddie Peddle-Power tractor pull. Bingo starts at 5 p.m., and the livestock auction gets underway at 7 p.m. while at 7:30 p.m. is the demolition derby.

Friday, Aug. 22 is Ladies Day and all ladies get in for $5 before noon. At 8 a.m. is Ladies Day festivities and rides begin at 1 p.m. There is a youth horse show all day beginning at 9 a.m. Bingo starts at 4 p.m. and the Fair Queen candidates compete for the title of 2014 Fair Queen beginning at 7 p.m.

Also at 7 p.m. is farm stock, super stock and Mini mods, which are new this year.

On Saturday, Aug. 23, there’s a compact tractor pull beginning at 8:30 a.m. and a youth horse show starts at 9 a.m. Rides open at 1 p.m. The Chelsea Fair Parade starts at 1 p.m. Bingo begins at 3 p.m., and showmanship sweepstakes is at 7 p.m.

At 7:30 p.m. is the 4-wheel and 2-wheel track and diesel truck pulling contest in the main arena.
