2016 Chelsea Community Fair: what you’ll see all week in the Multi-purpose building

If you’re looking for me during the Chelsea Community Fair, chances are you’ll find me in the Multi-Purpose Arena because that’s where the livestock action happens.

Pigs take center stage in the Multi-Purpose Arena on Tuesday, Aug. 23 beginning at 6 p.m. with the showmanship classes.

Goats take over the building beginning at 9 a.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 24 followed by dairy feeder calves at noon. At 2 p.m., the beef steers thunder into the building. Then sheep finish off the showing for the day beginning at 6 p.m.

Dairy cattle show at 10 a.m. on Thursday, Aug. 25.

The building undergoes a transformation following the dairy cattle judging and it becomes filled with tables as the livestock auction takes place Thursday night, beginning at 7 p.m.

Rain or shine, there will be a line of ladies outside the Multi-purpose building Friday morning, Aug. 26 when at 8:30 a.m., Ladies Day begins. The doors open at 7:45 a.m. and hundreds of ladies flock inside for the early morning festivities. Friday night, a different crowd of attendees arrive for the selection of the 2016 fair queen.

On Saturday, Aug. 27, sweepstakes showmanship takes place at 7 p.m. marking the last competition in the Multi-purpose building.
