Sylvan Township readies for March election; new assessment roll

The Sylvan Township office will be open Feb. 15 and Feb. 29 to accept tax payments.

Treasurer Rod Branham said taxes are due by Feb. 15 to avoid fees, and the last day to pay taxes at the township office is Feb. 29.

Any outstanding balances will be considered delinquent, Branham said.

Clerk Kathy Kennedy is working on the upcoming March 8 primary election.

Kennedy did a joint notice with other clerks to remind residents the last day to register to vote for this election is Feb. 8.

In addition, election workers will meet Feb. 10 for training.

Assessor Kyt Hoover has been working on a new assessment roll which includes:

  • Making splits active
  • Visiting and valuation of new construction
  • Sales studies broken out by various neighborhoods in the township
  • Processing personal property.

The March Board of Review will be late this year. The board will have hearings March 14 and 16.
