A legal opinion is being sought regarding the validity of a Chelsea Area Fire Authority board vote on Tuesday, April 17.
By a 2-1 vote, with two abstentions of the 5-member board, Chelsea Fire Chief Jim Payeur was stripped of his authority to hire and fire department personnel and the board took over these responsibilities.
Officials are currently seeking an opinion as to whether the vote was valid.
