Chelsea Center for the Arts will present a Music Mishmash fundraiser on Sunday, Nov. 3, from 3-4:30 p.m.

Included will be mini performances by CCA music students and faculty, which will set the tone for this unconventional fundraising event. In fact, students and their instructors will perform simultaneously in all four main classrooms of the CCA, with doors wide open and music mingling.

Guests will enjoy classical, pop, jazz, blues, Celtic, folk, and musical theater tunes as each performance room competes for the highest total of scholarship dollars earned.

“Our students are known for their excellence in traditional recital settings; however, this is not your typical recital,” says Lisa Hinz-Johnson, director of music programming. “Guests will be treated to a madcap, musical event unlike any we’ve done before. There will be traditional performances alongside interactive, musical surprises for the audience. This is an event for the entire family.”

Private instructors and instruments featured in this afternoon fundraiser include: Lisa Hinz-Johnson, voice and piano; Nathan Peters and Susan Schreiber, violin and viola; Alex Anest and Pete Bullard, guitar; Lester Castellana, piano; and Sipkje Pesnichak, oboe, English horn, and accordion.

The CCA students and their instructors will perform pieces that run the gamut from Italian art song to Van Halen, creating a mash-up of diverse entertainment.

Music Mishmash is a scholarship fundraising event, and all money will go to the CCA Scholarship and Tuition Assistance Fund.  CCA has provided more than $40,000 in scholarship assistance over the past four years, and the scholarships make music and art programs and lessons possible for many families who would otherwise be unable to participate.

CCA continues to keep scholarships a top priority by providing as much assistance as possible to families in need.

There is a fee of $5 per person or $20 per family, which will be charged at the door. And, in order to make its $2,000 fundraising goal for this event, CCA will also be asking for donations before and during the event.
