Lots to do the first night of Hometown Holiday

Hometown Holiday
Hometown Holiday

Talk about a busy Friday night on Dec. 6, during Chelsea’s Hometown Holiday.

The tree is lit and Santa arrives at Pierce Park at 6 p.m. and then he heads downtown.

Please enjoy the luminaries that will line Main Street, which are presented by the Chelsea girl and cub scouts to light the way.

But, if miss Santa’s arrival at the park, you can find him at The Depot from 6:30-8:30 p.m. where he’ll be in his Chelsea workshop. Parents can bring their cameras and take photos of their children with the jolly man and everyone can make a gift, too.

Across the street, families can enjoy story telling from 6:30 p.m.-8:30 p.m. at the Chelsea Farmers Supply at 122 Jackson St.

Then walk uptown because you won’t want to miss the live nativity scene that begins at 7:30 p.m. next to the Chelsea First United Methodist Church at 128 Park St. There will be live animals and a Christmas choir. The good news is there are two performances. One runs starts at 7:30 p.m. and a second one that begins at 8 p.m.

From 7-8 p.m. in the McKune Room of the Chelsea District Library, the Common Chords, a hand bell choir, will perform in concert. And there will also be refreshments.

From 6:30-8:30 p.m., children can decorate cookies at the ATA Martial Arts 420 N. Main St., Suite 300 near the Teddy Bear Company.

Be sure to take a look at the full weekend schedule of events that can be found here.
