Go, get outdoors, enjoy the weather at local state parks

Michigan state parks offer plenty of ways for everyone to GO Get Outdoors this winter – and many events are free.

These family-friendly programs and activities are an easy, affordable way for people of all ages to be outside and enjoy Michigan’s winter wonderland.

Saturday, Feb. 15
Waterloo State Recreation Area Rec 101: Intro to Ice Fishing, 10 a.m.-2 p.m.

Sunday, Feb. 23
Pinckney State Recreation Area Rec 101: Intro to Snowshoeing, beginning at 10 a.m.

Some events may require registration, and a Recreation Passport is required for all vehicles entering a Michigan state park or recreation area.

For details about these events and more at the state parks, please visit www.michigan.gov/gogetoutdoors and find the appropriate event listing.

The Recreation Passport is an easy, affordable way for residents to enjoy and support outdoor recreation opportunities in Michigan. By checking “YES” for the $11 Recreation Passport ($5 for motorcycles) when renewing a license plate through the Secretary of State (by mail, kiosk, online at www.expresssos.com or at branch offices), Michigan motorists get access to state parks, recreation areas, state forest campgrounds, nonmotorized state trailhead parking and state boat launches.

The Recreation Passport is valid until the next license plate renewal date.
