Reminder: Parent Education Series focusing on middle school strategies March 19

(Chelsea Update would like to thank Courtney Aldrich for the information in this story.)

On March 19 from 3-4 p.m. in the Washington Street Education Center, the Parent Education Series will present the Middle School Strategies for Success program.

The middle school years are a time of dramatic transitions. Not only is there the transition from elementary to middle school, but there are also transitions physically, socially, and emotionally for children at this time as well. In one building there are children just coming out of elementary school and those ready to take on the high school environment.

Beach Middle School principal Nick Angel and members of his staff will be discussing how you can help your child have a successful and rewarding middle school experience. This session is invaluable for parents whose children will be attending middle school in the next year or two as well as those who currently have a child in middle school.

Angel has taught nine years in the Chelsea School District, with three years as the Assistant Principal at Chelsea High School and the last six years as principal of Beach Middle School.

Other staff presenting include Matt Ceo-assistant principal, Dennis Strzyzewski– counselor, and Fred van Reesema-social worker.

The Parent Education Series is a series of programs on relevant parenting issues, presented by the Chelsea District Library, the Chelsea First United Methodist Church, and the Chelsea School District. Experts are brought in to speak on various subjects with the expectation of educating, supporting, energizing, and inspiring parents.

All talks are drop-in and free of charge.

You may RSVP for complementary childcare by going to the Chelsea First United Methodist Church website at www.chelseaumc.org and selecting adults/special events.
