There is a free tax preparation service that is provided by trained IRS/AARP volunteers and intended for older adults, who have lower income levels and simple returns.
AARP membership is not required. The volunteers can assist with Federal, Michigan and some other states’ returns. Returns are submitted electronically the same day as completed and you receive a paper copy of your return to take home.
