American Legion Post 31 Says Thank You

The American Legion Post 31 would like to thank the community for its support of the annual July 4 chicken BBQ.

Legion members begin cooking more than 500 chicken halves by 7 a.m. and with no wind this year, the chicken halves were done in plenty of time for the county health inspector to arrive and serving began before 11 a.m. By early afternoon, there weren’t many left and the about 25 dinners that remained were purchased and donated to the St. Louis Center.

The legion would like to thank the community for its support of this annual fundraiser–which was especially important this year because plumbing needed replacement in the building where the Legion members meet.

They look forward to seeing everyone on July 4, 2023 — pending a monsoon, of course.

(Publisher’s note: I decided not to bring my camera this year, opting to use my cell phone instead. Well, that was a terrible idea as all but one photo looked like the one below with my finger included, so for the first time there isn’t a photo gallery from this event. My apologies to all involved. And I will bring my real camera next year.)
