The 14th annual Chelsea Bands Mardi Gras Fundraiser will be held on Saturday, April 27 from 6:30-9 p.m. at Beach Middle School, 445 Mayer Dr.

It is a casual, open-house style event, with student musicians from 5th through 12th grade performing on three different, continuously live stages.

There will be food available, a silent auction – featuring donations from area merchants, restaurants and boosters – as well as many themed gift baskets.

The evening will conclude with performances by the Middle School and High School Jazz Bands.

The funds raised from this, the largest Chelsea Band fundraiser, will go to the Chelsea School District Band Department. Funds will be used to purchase new music, pay for instrument repairs and bring in accomplished professional musicians to work with groups of students throughout the band program.

“The kids really look forward to Mardi Gras,” Chelsea Band Director Rick Catherman said.

“They have a great time playing great music for great people,” Leslie Lewis, Mardi Gras chair of the event said, adding, “The community really comes out to support our kids and award-winning music programs.”

“Mardi Gras is a good time for friends and family to get together and share great music that we work hard to prepare,” said Jared Atkinson, 9th grade band member.

Tickets are $5 each.

There’s a family price of $20, so families with more than four people attending will only need four tickets. Tickets may be purchased from Chelsea Band students or are available at the door.
